How Antioxidants Help Prevent And Heal Cancer

By Rita Goldman

Our bodies produce natural antioxidants however the amount produced is not enough to combat the free radicals which in turn cause premature aging, damage to tissues, as well as the development of various diseases such as the life threatening cancer. Free radicals are known to be recurring by-products of natural cell formation. Their unstable molecular structure weakens the tissues surrounding them because they try to balance their structure by borrowing electrons from the nearby tissues.

When this happens, the weakened tissues become vulnerable to further damage from attacking bacteria and viruses. The abnormality in tissues will eventually develop into the known tumors and abnormal lumps, and will then progress to cancer if they are found to be malignant.

The only way to combat these free radicals is by taking in foods rich in antioxidants to help our body recuperate and prevent further damage caused by these harmful free radicals. If we have enough antioxidants in our body, free radicals wont be able to harm us, thus preventing cancer and other forms of diseases. If you have been diagnosed with cancer, antioxidants prevent any impeding new cancer cells from developing and spreading to other parts of your body. Because of this, the healing therapies you are currently undergoing will be more effective in treating your condition.

The rich sources of antioxidants include most vegetables and fruits. The vitamins A, C, and E are the most common antioxidants you can find in these healthy foods. You will also find the antioxidants beta-carotene, lutein, and lycopene in select few vegetables and fruits.

Some people may frown at the idea of eating fruits and vegetables everyday but statistics have proven that most people who consume at least five servings of fruits and vegetables each day have the lowest risk of developing cancer and also have the longest life span. Which would you prefer - eating your daily recommended servings of fruits and vegetables each day and looking forward to a long life ahead of you or suffering from the cancer illness?

Sunkissed tan without the health risk

By Jeff Cline

Summer is on its way! All the sun worshipers are getting ready to enjoy. With the sun comes the need for that sun kissed tan. Even though we love the wonderful tan, we also know what kind of damage it can do to our skin.

The days of sunworshipping has changed. The risks of sunbathing are well known by now. Skin cancer is the scariest risk. As many as 1/5 people will get skin cancer in there lifetime.

Sunless products are asafe alternative to baking in the sun. They have come a very long way since they first showed up on store shelves. No more orange! You can achieve a glow from gels, sprays and lotions.

Sunless tanners work by incorporating DHA or dihydroxyacetone to get that color. It attaches to the dead cells on the outer layer of skin. It last as long as the dead cells hold up. If used properly it can look very natural.

Some tanners have instant bronzers tinting the skin temporarly until full color is achieved. Most color can be seen after one hour, tanners typically go on clear. After 24 hours you will see full results.

Many salons have misting booths that can easily help you achieve an all over sunless glow. But the at home products work just as well if applied properly. Most of these tanners are applied to exposed areas.

Studies have not yet been done to see if the sunless tanners are safe. The FDA has approved them to be safe for skin application, but makes no note whether they are safe to ingest or inhale.

So it is best to take precautions just in case. Try not to inhale the fumes when using sprays and misting. And if you use misting use goggle and wipe off your lips afterwards. When applied to the face, watch around eyes, lips and nasal passages.
